Vacation All I Ever Wanted

As we round the bend to our first full year in publication in July we are poised to take the entire Summer off to refocus, recharge, regroup and all that good stuff. After all, Notetaking was only meant to be a temporary project to do our part to lighten the ‘Covid blues’! I never expected it to take off as it did, but am heartened by the overwhelming response. And we’ve connected with so many creatives along the way, and discovered that perfume can, in fact, be art (as well as commerce). Honestly, there is a silver lining to all tough times, and this was a perfect opportunity for something new, an enduring distraction of the senses. And now that the CDC has advised the vaccinated public may be mask-free, it’s high time to get back to the studio!

This is not really an ending, but the beginning of a new chapter, as I assert an uncertain ‘independence’ in preparation for a potential extended trip to Japan in October (Covid-depending). We will continue to publish reviews and podcasts through the end of June, so stay tuned for some amazing discoveries and spotlights! We want to extend a heartfelt thank all the wonderful people we have met (even if virtual) who have made a collective impact on my creative thinking — and to the readers, the listeners, and to the perfumers we have graciously reviewed (over 475 houses to date!), and to the vendors and others in the larger olfactory stratosphere – we salute thee. We just thought it would be a good thing to provide a little notice before we escaped the daily grind. In the meantime, we invite you to visit our other ongoing projects:

Studio (visual art)
Toneshift (sound podcast)

Feel free to binge-listen any of our previous shows, and stay in contact, (nudge, wink) especially the most creative types who understand the intersection of the senses through the arts. There are collaborations yet to unfold in the near future…..

Sincerely, TJ
